Active operations of the Alliance began when founding CEO Christopher Manegold arrived in July 2006. During a 40-year career, Chris previously directed local chambers and economic development organizations in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Casper, Wyoming. In Wyoming, the Casper Area Economic Development Alliance received the Governor’s Bravo! Award for Economic Development in 2006, and Chris was a 1996 recipient of the President’s Award from the Michigan Economic Developers Association.
Chris has been an instructor and presenter at a number of economic development conferences and courses around the country, including a college course he designed and taught on Japanese Business Practices. In 2000, while serving as Director of Asian Marketing for the Detroit Regional Economic partnership, Chris was invited to advise the City of Hiroshima on the international marketing of their Seifu-Shinto “new town” region.
A native of Cincinnati, Chris received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Cincinnati. He is a graduate of the Institute for Organization Management at the University of Notre Dame and the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma. He earned the designation as a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) from the International Economic Development Council in 1985 and in 1991 was appointed to its certification board and served as its chair in 1995-1996.
